Strength in Pain Foundation — SEO, AEO & Technical Foundation for a New Site Build

Client: Strength in Pain Foundation · 501(c)(3) TBI Nonprofit · Role: SEO / AEO Strategist

    Challenge

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving traumatic brain injury survivors launched a brand-new website with no existing search equity, competing against well-funded national organizations. The build had no on-page SEO structure, no answer-engine content, and was client-side rendered — so AI crawlers saw an empty page in a category where people increasingly ask ChatGPT and AI Overviews before they ask Google.

    Solution

Built the entire SEO and AEO foundation from zero: a site-wide on-page audit and rebuild, competitor and keyword gap research, six long-form Ask-and-Answer blog posts engineered for AI citation, a Reddit off-site AEO strategy, a defensible surf-safety content moat, and a CSR-to-SSR migration that preserved DNS, indexing and Google Workspace with zero lost equity.

New Site Build & H1 Heading Optimization

The homepage above the fold leads with an entity-and-audience H1 — organization name, service, and the exact audience being served — instead of a bare logo or slogan. That single line tells both search engines and answer engines what the organization is and who it helps.

Long-Form Blog Content in Answer-First AEO Format

Every post follows the same Ask-and-Answer template: the title is the question a survivor actually types, an on-page table of contents maps every question-shaped H2, and each section opens with the direct answer in the first sentence before the supporting detail. That structure is what AI answer engines extract and cite.

    What was holding it back

    • New site build with zero search equity and no on-page SEO structure
    • Homepage led with branding only — no keyword, no topical entity, no audience signal
    • No answer-engine-ready long-form content
    • Client-side rendering: crawlers and AI scrapers received an empty HTML shell
    • No FAQPage or BlogPosting schema anywhere on the site

    What changed

    • Entity-and-audience H1: "Strength in Pain Foundation: Support and Recovery for TBI Survivors"
    • 13+ pages audited and optimized with full H1/H2/H3 and metadata structure
    • Six long-form AEO blog posts in Ask-and-Answer format with on-page tables of contents
    • Server-side rendering — every heading, answer and schema block present in the raw HTML
    • FAQPage and BlogPosting schema rolled out across content pages

    Six Workstreams Delivered

    01

    Site-Wide On-Page SEO & AEO Audit

Ground-up implementation across every page of a brand-new site build: title tags, meta descriptions, H1/H2/H3 restructuring, internal linking and schema recommendations.

    02

    Competitor & Keyword Research

Gap analysis against LoveYourBrain, Concussion Legacy Foundation, Brain Injury Association of America and Healing Brainwaves surfaced high-opportunity terms the national organizations left open.

    03

    AEO & Long-Form Blog Content

Six long-form posts in a repeatable Ask-and-Answer template — question-shaped H2s, direct answer in the first sentence, on-page table of contents and FAQ blocks with FAQPage/BlogPosting schema.

    04

    Reddit AEO Strategy

Off-site answer content targeting r/TBI, r/ConcussionRecovery and r/orangecounty — the community sources answer engines already cite most heavily.

    05

Technical SEO: CSR → SSR Migration

The original build shipped a bare client-rendered HTML shell, so AI crawlers that don't execute JavaScript saw no headings, copy or schema. Migrated the site to server-side rendering so every page returns fully formed HTML — with DNS, indexing and Google Workspace preserved and zero search equity lost.

    06

    Surf Safety Content Expansion

A defensible E-E-A-T content moat around surf-related concussion and surf safety advocacy — a niche with near-zero direct competition.
